GM food - Food for thought

After so many days , finally I have come up with something to write.
Thanks to the show I watch yesterday & the one that introduce me to watch the show, for helping me revise geo hahhah.

Before I start lets make it clear first, i dont want to end up being called to the police station or finding a lawyers letter in my letter box, or other negative stufff, afterall the following content , are just some information adopted from a TV programme.

Monsanto , ( wonder am I doing advertisement for free for them ??? or blemishing them ???)

A Multi-national company(MNC) that controls 80% of the worlds trade of Genetically Modified Food sources or rather seeds, with annual turn over of 70 billion dollars (US, if i am not wrong).

This is not the thing. But they have come up GM food , that are though till now have yet to produce any negative results on human beings, which I hope & believes is true,afterall sooner or later we will be consuming them. But scientifically it is proven that, it might be harmful.

An experiment has been carried out by scientists. Whereby rats, has been fed with GM food for three months. At the end of the three months, it was found that their kidneys have gained weight significantly , and their livers have reduce in weight. This showed that toxic has been accumulated in their bodies. However MNC has stressed that through its experiments with GM , it is totally safe for human consumption, although most of the GM crops are used for feeding cattles.

Moreover scientist or rather biologist worried that the pollen grains from GM food might pollute the nature species, which GM producers replied that a baffle zone could be set up around the fields to prevent this from happening as pollen grains does not have the capability to travel over long distances.But scientist says this is not enough as during the transport processes , the pollen grains would have been scattered about.

Also there are MNC scientist that have quit as they do not agree to the way Monsanto does things & researches things. One of those who has quit has also staed that GM genes are extremely unstable & thus will mutate, and that he was not allowed to reveal that, as monsanto has asked these scientist to shut up on the information.

Furthermore,they have make the GM seeds impotent making farmers pay to buy seeds from them every year, calling the price farmers paid to be patent rights and research& inevention fees.

Now I better say some good stuff before GM food companies comes after me.
GM food resolves the problem of food shortages , makes plant resistant to water deficeint soil , allow plant to adapt to rather extrem climate, uses less insecticides.

But all the above is not what I like most of the show.Itis some of the phrases in the show that I liked.

We should respect Earth, soil, plants and nature and mot move on or modify too quickly. Nature should have its own course. & I agree that as consumers or politicians, we should help farmers involved in organic agriculture which is the right path to take , by purchasing their products. Afterall humans have the power to change things and correct situations.
